Portsmouth employee claims colleagues did not stop for Armistice Day silence
The employee from VolkerStevin - a civil engineering company which is building the jetty at the Historic Dockyard - said staff at the company, of which there about 100, did not observe the silence at 11am today.
The worker, who wanted to remain anonymous, said: ‘It’s an absolute disgrace. It’s part of our culture and should be respected.

A spokeswoman for VolkerWessels UK - VolkerStevin’s parent company - said: ‘VolkerWessels UK fully supports the Armistice Day two-minute silence and actively encourages all of its 3000 employees across the group to participate.
‘Unfortunately in this instance one of our operatives/suppliers was not notified at the start of the two minute silence.
‘We apologise for any upset this may have caused.’
