A PORTSMOUTH petrol station wants to extend its opening hours.

Milton Road Service Station in Milton Road, Milton, wants to open two hours earlier each day from 6am until midnight.

A letter of objection has been raised from the Mr Pickwick pub because it’s had problems with people who have had alcohol at the garage coming over and causing trouble.

The sale of alcohol is advertised on a wall facing the pub’s car park.

That matter is being investigated by Portsmouth City Council’s planning enforcement team.

As previously reported, the garage won its application to sell alcohol between 8am and 11pm earlier in the year.

It initially wanted to sell alcohol 24 hours a day but compromised after police warned it could lead to anti-social behaviour.

The assistant head of planning services will consider the matter unless a councillor refers it to a committee.

A council report says the proposals don’t raise any significant concerns and the proposal is an acceptable one.
