In a show of solidarity with the victims, red, blue and white lights will be reflected onto the iconic venue.

Four people have died following the attack in London, with seven people being arrested by police.

Cllr David Fuller, the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, said he was in ‘full agreement’ with the Guildhall’s plan.

He added: ‘I was very saddened by yesterday’s events. It is important though that people carry on as normal.

‘It should not stop people going to London and living our daily lives.

‘The Prime Minister’s speech about the attack was very heartfelt and the victims and families will be in our thoughts and prayers.’

It is not the first time the building has been used as a sign of solidarity from the people of Portsmouth.

Hundreds took to the streets outside the Guildhall in November 2015 following the terrorist attacks in Paris.
