CITY MP Penny Mordaunt has pledged to help ailing town centres as part of her new ministerial role.

The government’s new communities minister says she wants to come up with bright ideas to help breathe new life into shopping areas, including ones across the Portsmouth area.

The Portsmouth North MP said she would like to see high streets become ‘community hubs’ that are more in line with modern shopping habits.

In the past she helped to boost Cosham by campaigning to get wheel clampers City Watched ousted from one of its car parks.
