PORTSMOUTH City Council leader Donna Jones has made it clear that she is not in favour of Scottish independence, with the referendum imminent.

Cllr Jones said: ‘I would urge Scotland to vote no in the referendum. Scotland needs to be part of the Great Britain for future prosperity. I’m against devolution.’

Asked whether she would consider flying the Scottish Saltire outside the Civic Offices she said: ‘I think it’s appropriate that the Saltire is flying above state buildings such parliament and Downing Street but Portsmouth City Council has no direct control or influence over Scotland.

‘It’s inappropriate to fly above a local government building in Portsmouth.
