Praise from Fareham MP for service helping domestic abuse victims

A SERVICE which helps vulnerable women has been praised for its work following a visit from an MP.

Fareham politician Suella Fernandes met staff at the Southern Domestic Abuse Service (SDAS) which helps women in Fareham and Gosport.

She was given a tour of the organisation and spoke to women who were currently taking refuge from domestic abusers.

Miss Fernandes said: ‘SDAS provide a safe haven for women fleeing violent partners and I was moved by the warmth and professionalism of the staff and volunteers there.

‘Hearing the harrowing stories of the women was a shocking reminder that far too many women are still suffering behind closed doors, without a way out.

‘SDAS provides safety, support and opportunity to rebuild life away from the grip of domestic violence.’

The organisation recently received £190,000 in funding from the government.
