SUPPORT for the local economy, improving the way a council works and supporting people in need are the three top priorities, according to a council leader.

Winchester City Council leader Stephen Godfrey announced his cabinet this week.

He said: ‘My cabinet will focus on three key areas: supporting the local economy, improving the way the council works, and supporting people who need our help.

‘We will strive to sustain and enhance Winchester’s reputation as a great place to live, work and visit. We will make best use of taxpayers’ money and ensure the services are the best they can be.’

The cabinet is:

n Stephen Godfrey – finance and corporate policy

n Vicki Weston – built environment

n Steve Miller – estates and local economy

n Frank Pearson – environment, health and well-being

n Rob Humby – business and policy co-ordination

n James Byrnes – transport and professional services

n Caroline Horrill – housing
