Prominent Brexit MP Jacob Rees-Mogg to visit Gosport later this week

LEADING Brexiteer and Conservative MP Jacob Rees-Mogg will be making an appearance in Gosport this week, it has been confirmed.

The Conservative MP will be attending a luncheon at the Masonic Hall in Clarence Road on Friday, as the guest speaker for the Gosport Conservative Association.

Chairman of the Gosport Conservatives, George McAleese, says he is proud to see prominent politicians taking an interest in Gosport.

He said: '˜We have had this in the pipeline for three or four months now.

'˜It's great to have him '“ people might not always agree with his views but it's still good that he can find the time to come and speak to us.'

Although Mr Rees-Mogg is unlikely to be meeting any members of the public, Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage claims the visit is still very important for the town.

She said: '˜Because of the nature of this occasion he's not visiting in an MP capacity '“ so I don't think he'll be heading out into the town.

'˜But it is really good to have ministerial interest like this in Gosport.'
