Proposals for new arts facility in Fareham to be discussed

Fareham Borough Council’s executive will have their say on the plans which would replace Ferneham Hall as the town’s premier cultural facility.

Councillors will decide whether to put the idea – which is part of multi-million proposals to transform the town centre – to the public.

It involves the building of hundreds of homes around the area, with Ferneham Hall set to be redeveloped as part of the plans.

The proposals also involve bringing services from the Ashcroft Arts Centre into the proposed facility.

Councillors will also decide on whether to move ahead with plans to expand Holly Hill Cemetery in Sarisbury Green.

The proposals involve adding 377 burial plots and creating space for an additional 240 cremated remains at the cemetery in Barnes Lane.

This is due to the cemetery and the nearby St Paul’s Cemetery in Bridge Street being full up.

The plans come as proposals for a 500-plot cemetery next to the Coldeast development were shelved.
