Recruitment drive launched for more foster carers in Portsmouth

A RECRUITMENT drive has being launched for new foster carers of all ages, faiths and sexuality as part of the national LGBT adoption and fostering week.

Portsmouth City Council says it needs more people to provide a caring home, guidance and direction to children of all ages.

There are numerous fostering opportunities available, from a stay-at-home full-time foster carer for a young child, to fostering a young person whilst continuing to work full or part-time.

Another option is providing a room and about 10 hours a week support to one of Portsmouth’s vulnerable 16 to 24-year-olds.

People can foster regardless of your sexuality, ethnicity, gender, marital status, whether they are single, own their own home or rent.

For more information, visit foster.portsmouth.gov.uk or call (023) 9283 4071. Or attend one of the monthly drop-in sessions at the council’s civic Offices reception area. Events are being held on March 8 from 7pm to 8.30pm and April 5 from 7pm to 8.30pm.
