Residents oppose plans for new houses in Gosport

A CONTENTIOUS planning application for seven houses in Gosport has been met with opposition by residents.

People living in Camden Terrace and nearby roads have signed a petition against the plan for six two-bedroom houses and a three-bedroom house.

The plan will demolish a factory unit to make space for the new properties.

Residents are against the proposal as they fear it will take away unregistered land at the front of their properties.

A video has been made by residents which was submitted to Gosport Borough Council ahead of tonight’s planning meeting where a decision on the application will be made.

Teri Baker, from Camden Terrace, said: ‘In my deeds, it says the section of land is conveyed to the terrace block.

‘We all share the access to it and we all give each other rights to park our cars along there.

‘It has nothing to do with the factory.’

Fellow resident Rick Miles added: ‘We have the rights to use the land and the factory has a different boundary line.’

Council officers have recommended members of the planning board to refuse the application.
