Security review after Hampshire County Council website is hacked

A REVIEW of Hampshire County Council's internet security is under way after part of its website was hacked.

But the authority says there is no evidence to suggest data or information was obtained.

A council spokesperson said: ‘A small area of the website was recently accessed by a third party.

‘This activity was immediately detected by our IT team and within minutes, action was taken to block the unauthorised access. As a precautionary measure, the council temporarily took off-line parts of the website.

‘Our security analysis is ongoing. At this stage there is no evidence that any data or information has been comprised.

Hampshire County Council adheres to best practice for information security and is regularly audited with national and international accreditation bodies.’
