MUSIC-LOVERS will enjoy everything from TV theme tunes to military marches when the Meridian Winds Band plays at the mayor of Havant’s charity concert.
The popular band, which has a repertoire including waltzes, overtures, marches and film scores, has been invited to play by the mayor and mayoress of Havant, councillors Gerald and Elaine Shimbart.
Money raised will be split between the mayor’s chosen charities, the Portsmouth and East Hampshire branch of the Samaritans, FLASH (Family Liaison Autism Support Havant) and CancerWise and Smile Support and Care.
Meridian Winds Band was formed in 1987 by two instrumental teachers, Tim Norris and Tim Warren, and is made up of professional musicians, teachers and students.
The charity concert takes place on Sunday September 23 at 2.30pm in the Conference Centre at the Public Service Plaza, Civic Centre Road, Havant.
Tickets for the event are £6 including refreshments, with concessions set at £5.
They are available from the mayor’s secretary Anne Thurlow. Call her on (023) 9244 6152 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Alternatively tickets will be available on the door.
