A PETITION containing 250 names calling for a Stubbington bypass will be handed to Fareham Borough Council next week.

The petition was organised by UKIP candidate Christopher Wood, pictured, and calls for a bypass to be built to coincide with the creation of the Solent Enterprise Zone at the former Daedalus airfield in Lee-on-the-Solent.

Plans for the Solent Enterprise Zone show the area would have two points of entry, one onto Gosport Road in Stubbington and one onto Broom Lane in Lee-on-the-Solent.

Residents from Stubbington are concerned that this would bring about an increase of traffic travelling through the village.

The petition will be the last deed for Mr Wood, who will be quitting politics and joining the Royal Navy as a warfare officer later this month.
