Aircraft carrier project leaves defence budgets ‘exposed’, MPs warn

PEOPLE are needed to join a project to set up a BMX track in Portsmouth.

Portsmouth City Council is hoping adult track riders, or parents of young riders will get involved.

Councillor Lee Hunt, the council’s cabinet member for culture, leisure and sport, said: ‘We want to help BMX to grow in Portsmouth.

‘We’ve done a lot of research on setting up a track, and have some designs ready to show people.

‘In these tough financial times, the council can’t fund or operate a track itself.

‘But it could provide the land, help a club find funding, and support the project in many other ways.’

A meeting is being held on Monday, June 3 at 7pm in the civic offices in Portsmouth.

The designs will be on display.
