But that’s not stopped them claiming thousands of pounds in expenses.

Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority figures for the 2020-21 financial year show MPs across the UK had claimed over £9 million as of January 6th.

The JPIMedia Data Unit has analysed the figures to find out how much has been claimed by members in the Portsmouth area.

Caroline Dinenage, the Conservative MP for Gosport CC, has spent £27,255.17 on 62 claims so far this year. Their biggest expense has been for office costs, with £13,475.05 spent.

Alan Mak, the Conservative MP for Havant BC, has spent £23,216.46 on 31 claims so far this year. Their biggest expense has been for office costs, with £17,433.96 spent.

Suella Braverman, the Conservative MP for Fareham CC, has spent £16,519.95 on 36 claims so far this year. Their biggest expense has been for office costs, with £12,207.67 spent.
Damian Hinds, the Conservative MP for East Hampshire CC, has spent £14,708.80 on 48 claims this year. Their biggest expense has been for accommodation, with £10,400.00 spent.
Flick Drummond, the Conservative MP for Meon Valley CC, has spent £12,194.82 on 14 claims so far this year. Their biggest expense has been for office costs, with £9,794.82 spent.
