WATERLOOVILLE MP George Hollingbery has been voted on to an influential House of Commons committee.

Mr Hollingbery has been voted on to the executive of the 1922 Committee of Conservative MPs.

The 90-year-old committee’s primary function is to keep the leadership of the party informed of the mood of backbenchers.

‘I’m thrilled to be on the executive of such an important and historic committee and it’s especially pleasing that I was voted on to it by my fellow backbench MPs,’ said Mr Hollingbery.
