MORE than £2m has been seized from the hands of criminals as a result of the work of Hampshire County Council’s trading standards team.

Since 2009, the council’s work to protect residents from rogue traders has secured more than £1m in confiscation orders in the courts.

The largest amount recovered from one person was £300,000.

This followed the conviction of a man for selling fake electrical goods online.

Over the same period, safeguarding and mediation techniques have
been used by to recover £1m from scammers.
