TWO Portsmouth projects have fought off record entry levels from across the UK to be short-listed for awards.

The Northern Road bridge replacement scheme and construction of the M275 Tipner Interchange and adjacent park and ride have both been included in the final three candidates to win the major projects category at the Highways Magazine Excellence Awards.

Northern Road bridge, the main thoroughfare in Cosham, needed replacing as it was approaching the end of its working life.

The new M275 junction and park and ride has provided a sustainable mode of transport for visitors and commuters to Portsmouth

The junction also creates access from the motorway to potential developments sites .

The awards are next month.
