THIS WEEK IN 1996: Hants stores raise alcohol age limit

Twelve shops in Hampshire banned the sale of alcohol to anyone under the age of 21 in a bid aimed at cracking down on drunken youngsters.

Alldays shops were among those taking part in the three-month pilot scheme. If successful it was to be implemented in other areas.

The trial was prompted after talks with local communities and police.

A spokesperson for Alldays Stores said: '˜We have a responsibility to support communities tackling underage drinking.'
