West Sussex council to appoint chief executive

PLANS to re-establish the post of chief executive at West Sussex County Council have been approved.

The authority will now appoint a new chief executive following a period since Gill Steward was appointed on an interim basis in 2014.

Louise Goldsmith, council leader, said: ‘Gill’s role was to transform how we work to ensure better value for taxpayers’ money and improved services for residents.

‘With the transformation programme nearing completion, we are now planning to re-establish the post of chief executive.

‘This will drive forward those changes and ensure the priorities of our Future West Sussex plan are delivered.’

It is hoped the chief executive will be in place by the summer.
