STAFF at West Sussex County Council are taking industrial action.

It will involve staff employed at the contact centre by the private firm Serco, and will take place on Tuesday.

Contact centre hours will be from 9am to 5.30pm instead of 8am to 6pm.

Adults and children’s social care, education, emergency management, the Family Information Service, highways, registration, switchboard, and Blue Badge will take priority.

Other lines may not be available.

A spokesman said: ‘We would ask members of the public to only call if it’s urgent on the day of the strike. We hope to be back to normal on Wednesday.’
