WORK is set to start on 10 new affordable homes in West Meon on Friday.

Winchester City Council made the announcement during national rural housing week, which aims to highlight the need for affordable homes for local people in rural areas.

The district has 45 affordable homes either in the process of being built or where building is about to start in rural areas, including 20 in Wickham.

Cllr Tony Coates, who is in charge of housing matters, said: ‘Affordable local housing for local people is a key priority for the city council.’
