THE public’s views are being sought on plans for a new crematorium in Havant.

A public consultation on The Southern Co-operative’s bid will take place at Havant and Waterlooville Football Club in Martin Road, Havant.

As reported in The News, the company is proposing to build a small crematorium near woodland off Bartons Road, close to Spire Hospital.

It is hoped the new facility will take the strain off Portchester, which is the busiest in the country.

The consultation takes place between 10am and 8pm on September 20 and 21.

Images will be on display and residents will be able to ask questions of the project team.

A joint planning application has not yet been submitted to Havant Borough Council and East Hampshire District Council.
