Pompey fan sets his date for Saints tattoo

A LIFELONG Pompey fan is doing the '˜worst thing possible' and has booked a tattoo of rival club after reaching his fundraising target.

James Sullivan, from Havant, was inspired to get Southampton FC’s badge tattooed on his leg next to his beloved Pompey crest to raise money for charity after his friend’s daughter two-year-old Lola-Mai Burns was diagnosed with cancer.

He said: ‘I was trying to think of the worst thing I could possibly do.’

The 29-year-old dad-of-two has exceeded his target of £200 by £90, which will go towards the Portsmouth and Southampton Hospitals Trusts, and to Cancer Research UK, and he has set his date.

He said: ‘I’ve had good and bad comments about it all.’

The tattoo, which he has designed himself, is going to be on his right leg and it will be inked by Rob Hasler, from Havant Ink, in West Street, Havant on Tuesday, April 19.

James said that he hopes more people will donate to the cause, especially as his fundraising page for Portsmouth Hospitals Trust has raised just £3.50, compared to Southampton’s £63, with the rest going to Cancer Research UK.
