POMPEY fans rose to their feet and applauded in the 53rd minute of today's match in honour of a road crash victim.

Gary Martin, of Gosport, would have turned 53 today but tragically died in a crash with a truck in Eastern Road on Wednesday.

‘My uncle, Gary Martin, tragically passed away on Wednesday in an accident in Eastern Road.

‘He would have turned 53 on Saturday and had tickets for the away game.

‘It would be a fitting tribute for a lifelong Pompey supporter and a season ticket holder for more than 30 years, if the fans could do a minute’s applause in memory of an amazing man.’
