POMPEY Supporters Trust chairman Ashley Brown says that the club is, quite simply, the lifeblood of the city.

He has been a fan for about 40 years, since his mum took him to Fratton Park as a babe in arms. Pompey has been in his family for generations and now he, and the trust want to preserve the club for future generations to come.

The trust has been hard at work looking at ways to save Pompey, should no new owner come forward or should the unthinkable happen and the club be liquidated.

He said: ‘The football club, to me, is the heart of the city.

‘It has a tremendous amount of history behind it, generations of Portsmouth families have supported the club locally, and that message has been spread globally.

‘It is the lifeblood of the city for so many people.

‘It’s in the family, and that’s part of the city.’
