Pompey star looks forward to Bedhampton Summer Show

POMPEY legend Alan Knight will be the guest of honour at a summer show.

Alan, who made more than 800 appearances in goal for Pompey in a 25-year career, will be at Bedhampton Summer Show tomorrow .

The free event takes place at Bidbury Mead.

It opens at 2pm, following the Teddy Bears’ Picnic, which starts at 1pm.

Alan said: ‘This is a great venue for a traditional event.

‘I’m really looking forward to bringing my family and meeting the other visitors there, whatever the weather brings.’

Ron Tate, one of the organisers, said: ‘Music to accompany teas will be provided by the Portsmouth City Band, sponsored by Norse South East, and further arena displays will include the Marine Cadet’s Field Gun Team and the Northern Parade Junior Steel Band.

‘The afternoon will end with novelty races.’

Mayor of Havant, Cllr Faith Ponsonby, will open the show at 2pm and will be judging the children’s fancy dress.

This year’s theme – A Right Royal Year – celebrates the Queen’s 90th birthday.

Funds raised support the work of the nearby historic church.
