HOTEL staff raised more than £1,000 – by going round the world.

The Hilton Hotel, in Farlington, held a family fun day in aid of Hannah’s Holiday Home and Off The Record.

Colleagues from hotels across the globe also took part in a challenge to cycle or row the equivalent of the earth’s circumference in a day. The challengers at Farlington roped the public into helping on static exercise machines and they clocked up almost 200 miles.

There was also a sponsored hair cut, arena acts and Poppin’ Ron from Britain’s Got Talent made an appearance.

Pam Marshall, who set up Hannah’s Holiday Home after her daughter died of cancer in 2004, said: ‘There was so much going on throughout the afternoon. Teams took part in cycling and rowing and there was a great variety of stalls and bouncy castles which kept the children and adults amused.

‘Poppin’ Ron wowed the crowds with his dance troupe as did Classique School of Dance.’

Off the Record, which is based in Fratton, offers free and confidential advice to young people.

Hotel manager Darren Walsh said more than £1,300 was raised.
