Organisers have confirmed the popular Waterlooville Pancake Race will not take place today because of strong winds and rain.

The fixture, put together by the Southern Co-op funeral home at 320 London Road, will instead be held at 11am on Thursday.

Set to descend on the Waterlooville shopping precinct, the annual event features racers from local businesses in a bid to raise money for charity.

When it returns on Thursday, the Southern Co-op will collect cash for their chosen cause, the Waterlooville Events Team.

An organising spokesperson for the race said: ‘Sadly we have had to cancel the race due to the wind – but we are rescheduling for Thursday.’

According to Met Office forecasts for Thursday, rain is likely in the early morning but clear sunshine is expected from 9am until 3pm.

The public is welcome to attend and watch the Waterlooville Pancake Race.
