FANS of the famous words ‘three, two, one, activate’ will be in for a treat when Robot Wars stops off in Portsmouth.

The event features 38 robots battling it out in an arena, including ‘Matilda’ from the original Robot Wars television series. It will take place at The Mountbatten Leisure Centre, Alexandra Park, on Sunday, October 9, with two showings at midday and 3.30pm lasting two hours.

John Findlay, event organiser, said: ‘We’re hoping for a high turnout this year. Last time the atmosphere was electric and this year the show is going to be even better.

People will get to take control of smaller robots in the new Battle Ratz arena for a £2 fee. Mr Findlay said: ‘The queues have been crazy for the event before and it’s been a really big hit in the past.’
