AN ANTI-POVERTY campaigner who was born and bred in Portsmouth has been appointed to a top job in Bono’s charity One.

Adrian Lovett is now the Europe executive director of the global advocacy group co-founded by the U2 lead singer to raise awareness of extreme poverty.

He previously served as global campaign director for Save the Children International, where he led Save the Children’s global campaign for newborn and child survival, Every One.

Bono said: ‘Adrian Lovett’s heavyweight strategic and campaigning nous is great news for One’s European work and I’m very excited to work with him again.’

Mr Lovett said: ‘From working with One’s founders on Jubilee 2000 and Make Poverty History to leading Save the Children’s global campaign, I’ve seen how millions of people can move mountains together.

‘One is an amazing global movement of people who want to end extreme poverty. I’m really proud to be joining them for the journey ahead.’
