Portsmouth charity steps in to give young disabled footballers a boost

Now the team of vulnerable youngsters from Pompey in the Community have been given a huge boost after a charity stepped in and provided new sports equipment to ensure they can continue to play and have fun.

Charity Help 4 Special Children purchased a new Pompey-style kit, cones, footballs and other equipment for the children, who play football using special frames which enable them to get about.

The sport goodies were handed over by the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, Councillor David Fuller, at a special presentation ceremony at Roko Health Club, Portsmouth at the weekend.

Keith Shaw, chief executive officer of Help 4 Special Children, said: ‘It just means so much to the children knowing that they will be able to kick a ball in a football kit.

‘David Fuller was fantastic and got in goal for them. He was absolutely brilliant with the kids.

‘It’s really a chance for the kids to feel special.’
