PORTSMOUTH Crown Court was evacuated today after the fire alarm sounded.

Cases were halted as staff, members of the public mans legal teams were ordered to leave the building shortly before noon.

It is understood that the alarm went off due to a small amount of smoke coming into the building via an extractor.

However the court was reopened a short while later and cases were able to resume.
