Portsmouth duet The Estelles are giving something back this Christmas

Lisa Cooper and Elouise Standen make up Motown duet The Estelles and the pair have offered to sing in supermarkets and at events for free to help raise money for different charities.

The women, from Portsmouth, are fully booked until February but wanted to find the time to give something back this festive season.

Lisa, 32, said she was surprised and delighted at all the community spirit in Portsmouth and people’s willingness to help others.

‘We have worked so hard this year to get our business off the ground and have had some really amazing support,’ she said.

‘Elouise and I have both had our lives affected by cancer in the last two years and we both feel privileged and lucky to be where we are.

‘So this Christmas we made the decision we would give something back and try to bring a smile to people’s faces who really need it.

‘We put a post out offering to go and sing for people and have been overwhelmed with the response we have received.’

So far, The Estelles have already sang at Tesco North Harbour while the store and founders of Hannah’s Holiday Home Appeal raised money for the charity.

Next week they will be joining the Salvation Army to provide some entertainment for their good neighbours’ Christmas lunch.

They will also be performing for the children in the paediatric ward at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham.

Lisa added: ‘We have been amazed by the amount of other businesses who have contacted us offering help and support.

‘Home Coffee in Albert Road, Southsea, are opening their doors Christmas Day for anyone who simply needs a bit of company and will be providing hot drinks and mince pies.

‘It has shown us what an amazing community we have here in Portsmouth and that there are some really good people out there.

‘We had to make time to give something back and we feel honoured to be able to do this.

Lisa continued: ‘If more people would spare a little time – particularly at this time of year – we could really make a difference.’
