A FIRE engine went to Buckland after reports of smoke in a block of flats.

Several people had evacuated Cherry Blossom Court, in Sultan Road, by the time firefighters arrived at about 2.25am on Saturday.

The fire alarm was sounding and residents said they could smell burning on the second floor.

It is thought youths had a party in which a lit cigarette caused the blaze.
