Portsmouth friends reunited thanks to Remember When

At the beginning of July Remember When published some of Sandra Langford's pictures from her days at St Luke's C of E Secondary School, Southsea, in the 1960s in her quest to organise a reunion. It worked.

Sandra (née Hallett), who went to the school from 1964-69, says that as a result she’s been contacted by so many former pupils that a get-together is planned for the autumn.

She says: ‘Since you published the first story I’ve even been contacted by one friend who lives in Cardiff and who I last had contact with 43 years ago.’

The reunion has now been arranged for Friday, November 4 at Waverley Bowls Club, Waverley Road, Southsea, through club secretary Pete Aldridge who was at St Luke’s with Sandra, although a year below her.

She can be contacted via [email protected] or by calling (023) 9225 5596 or 07702 118113.

Meanwhile, above is another of her pictures showing girls in a school production of Trial by Jury by Gilbert and Sullivan about 1967.

Sandra is on the right in the back row next to Christine Buckley, while in front of them are Margaret Hellyer and Lenise Cartwright. She can’t recall the names of the four on the left.
