STAFF at a Portsmouth hotel joined forces to raise more than £1,500 for a local charity.

Workers at the Hilton hotel hit rowing and cycling machines to clock up as many miles as they could in four hours in aid of Hannah’s Holiday Homes.

The challenge was part of a fun day organised by management to generate money for the charity which offers free holidays to sick children and their families.

There was also a host of entertainment at the event, including shows from Classic Dance Company, Time Step School of Dance and Belly Dance South, who all performed different styles of dancing from across the globe.

Traditional stalls, games, activities, stocks, a bouncy castle and a barbecue also helped boost the cash figure for the charity.

Members of staff at other Hilton hotels across Europe also hosted fundraisers as part of the company’s Around the World in a Day campaign to travel the equivalent distance it would take to go round the world.

Those in the Portsmouth hotel completed 96 miles and the combined efforts of workers across Europe were 32,989 miles – taking them round the world and beyond.

Jennifer Tsimpris, from Hilton Portsmouth, said: ‘It was a really fun day and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves.

‘And the dance shows were brilliant.’
