PEOPLE are being encouraged to get creative and enter a short story competition for the chance to win a cash prize.

Libraries in Portsmouth are holding the contest following its success last year.

The theme for the competition is 1976 to tie in with Central Library’s 40th birthday.

The contest opens tomorrow and entries can be submitted, along with £5 entry fee, up to the 5pm on Friday, September 30.

The winner will be announced at the launch of Portsmouth BookFest in February 2017.

It is open to anyone aged 16 or over. For more details email bookfest@portsmouthcc.gov.uk.
