Portsmouth museums holding fun events this summer

THIS summer families can enjoy a range of activities at museums.

Portsmouth’s museums are offering a host of events from animal-themed days to craft sessions.

Cumberland House Natural History Museum, in Southsea, is holding a wildlife watch session in August.

Children aged five to 15 can enjoy the nature in Southsea with lots of outdoor fun and spend time spotting animals.

The event is £4 per person and takes place on August 13 between 10am and 12pm.

Also in August, the museum is holding a free reptile and amphibian weekend.

Portsmouth Reptile and Amphibian Society will be hosting the event on August 27 and 28 and will have a range of animals on show. It is on from 10am until 5pm.

Portsmouth City Museum will be joining in with the summer fun, starting with a free Meccano day on August 10. Children and adults can go along to the drop-in eventbetween 11am to 4pm.

At the museum, in Southsea, on August 17 visitors can enjoy a show by the Victory Model Railway Club with two vehicles from the Portsmouth Preserved Transport Depot. This is a free event from 10am to 4pm.

The City Museum is also holding a free Hidden Past Festival on August 21.

Between 10am and 5pm families can enjoy historic music and entertainment, meet characters from the past, discover rural crafts and try food and drinks from across the South Downs.
