A WORRIED passer-by alerted the fire brigade after hearing the alarm of a pub ringing.

Two fire engines from the Southsea station were called to the fire alarm at the Mother Shipton pub on the corner of Twyford Avenue and Wilson Road at 3.40pm yesterday.

The crews arrived and after investigating found it to be a false alarm.
