Portsmouth road closed after 4x4 flips onto its sideÂ

FIREFIGHTERS were called after a 4x4 flipped onto its side on a city road tonight.

The crash took place in Northern Parade, Stamshaw, just before 9pm.

A Land Rover had flipped, forcing the road to be closed in both directions for about an hour.

Two fire crews from Cosham were called, along with police and paramedics.

A spokesman said: '˜We received the call at 8.58pm. It came through to us as person trapped.

'˜When we got there there was no-one trapped. Police and paramedics were already there, The female casualty was being treated by the ambulance service at the scene.'

The road was cleared just after 10pm.Â

The is no word on the severity of the female driver's injuries.
