Besieged residents living in the PO4 postcode area have been left without power after yet another blackout took place around 6.30pm this evening.

People living in Westfield Road and Eastfield Road, as well as Eastney Road, have been told their power may not be back on until midnight.

Engineers from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) are currently attempting to resolve the issue.

The fiasco comes after nearly 50,000 people were affected by a huge blackout across the city on Monday.

Last night also saw another power cut as people again living in the PO4 postcode were thrown into darkness.

The power giant has been forced to apologise for the last two nights.

A spokesperson for SSEN said tonight: '˜We've had reports of some isolated incidents of no power '“ it is not widespread. Our engineers are on site to investigate whether it is a power cut or just low voltage. I would hope the issues will be resolved this evening.'Â
