NEW research says Portsmouth is the second-worst city in the UK for community spirit.
The poll of 4,000 people by Bisto and Dr Stephanie Alice Baker, lecturer in sociology at City University of London, showed Wolverhampton was the only city to be less friendly than Portsmouth.
York was shown as the most friendly while Hull and Belfast were also seen as having community spirit.
Along the coast, Southampton was sixth worst for its friendliness.
The research showed over a third of participants were not satisfied with the level of community spirit in their neighbourhood and 43 per cent would like to see more of it.
Only half of them know their neighbour’s name while only 29 per cent say hello to people living in the street.
