COLLEAGUES from Portsmouth’s Southern Co-operative stores raised £1,098 for charity by walking more than 11 miles during a shop relay.

Around 25 workers and some of their family and friends joined the relay and called into 12 Co-op stores to generate cash for Canine Partners – a charity that gives disabled people dogs to help them with every-day activities.

They collected donations from shoppers along the way and stores put up decorations and helped spread the word of their challenge.

Phil Hall, store manager at Twyford Avenue, in Tipner, organised the relay.

He said: ‘We’d like to thank the Portsmouth public for getting behind this latest fundraising for The Southern Co-operative’s Charity of the Year, Canine Partners.

‘Shoppers were very supportive and the relay has helped to raise awareness of the charity.’
