A BRANCH of a solicitors firm has been closed after a regulator took action.

The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) shut Blavo & Co Solicitors Limited, which has an office in Kingston Crescent, Portsmouth.

A statement from the SRA said: ‘This closure, called intervention, has taken place into the firm Blavo & Co Solicitors Limited and the practice of sole director John Blavo.

‘The practising certificate of John Blavo has been automatically suspended, so he cannot practise as a solicitor.’

All documents, papers and money have been taken by the SRA.

A recorded message from the SRA is played to anyone calling the Portsmouth office.

The reasons for intervention are:

- There is reason to suspect dishonesty of the part of a manager or employee of Blavo & Co Solicitors Limited, which has its head office in John Street, London.

- There is reason to suspect dishonesty on the part of John Blavo in connection with his practice.

- To protect the interests of clients of Blavo & Co Solicitors Limited.

Decisions to intervene are made by the SRA independent panel of adjudicators.
