Portsmouth woman says goodbye to her hair for charity

A SPONSORED head shave raised £1,200 for charity.

More than 50 people went to the fundraiser to show their support for Joy Wadham, who said goodbye to all of her hair.

The money is going to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Joy, of Portsmouth, said: ‘I was a bit nervous about my hair. My boss Tina’s husband had said to me “I’ll donate £20 if you let me have the first go with the clippers”.

‘He shaved right down the middle.

‘Now it feels amazing, I can’t believe how cool it is. It’s great not having to worry about doing my hair.’

Joy’s sister-in-law was recently diagnosed with cancer and she said this was the reason for her decision.

‘She was diagnosed just before Christmas and is now going through chemotherapy,’ Joy added.

‘She has had to shave her head while undergoing treatment. I wanted to show her that we all support and care about her.’

The trim was held at the Made by Me studio in Lee-on-the-Solent, where Joy works.
