Power to be out until 2am in Portsmouth due to underground cable fault

ENGINEERS are hoping to restore power to the city by 2am after a power cut.

The outage is affecting the PO4 area and was reported earlier this evening.

A Scottish and Southern Electricity Network spokeswoman said: '˜Our engineers are currently on site dealing with an underground cable fault and we hope to have power restored by 2am.

'˜The incident is currently affecting 304 people and we want to apologise to those customers who have been inconvenienced and we are trying to restore power as quickly as possible.' 

SSEN also reported a power outage in the PO1 area but the reason for the power outage in this area is currently unknown.
