AROUND 50 homes were plunged into darkness in Southsea following a power cut.

A faulty cable meant properties along Clarendon Road were left without electricity at 7pm yesterday.

Greg Clarke, spokesman for Southern Electric, said: ‘At 7pm last night about 50 customers were effected by a power cut.

‘We dispatched engineers out to fix a cable and supplies were back on at 10.30pm.

‘We apologise to customers for the inconvenience.’
