HUNDREDS of people were hit by a power cut in Portsmouth this morning.

Homes and businesses in the Copnor area were affected, following a fault with Southern Electric’s sub station in Fearon Road.

This meant 350 customers around the Randolph Road and Balfour Road area were without power since before 6am.

Duncan McDonald, spokesman for Southern Electric, said: ‘We would like to apologise to customers and we are aiming to restore power as quickly and as safely as possible.’

The power is now back on.
